Margaret “Maggie” Walston May passed away Sunday at the age of 93. She was the 6th of eight children born to Wright Wiggins Walston, Sr. and Margaret Louisa Corbett on September 2, 1920 in Edgecomb County. She married G.E. May in 1938 and accompanied himduring his 20 years of service in the Navy. They settled in Rougemont, NC and established Washoe Kennels where they bred and raised beagles.
She is survived by a son Winston May (Linda) of Rougemont, two grandsons, Matthew May and Michael Harp, Jr., two great-granddaughters, Laurel and Cameron Harp and one sister, Anne Drake of Wilson, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM, Friday, August 1, 2014 at Eakes Funeral Chapel, Creedmoor, NC. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 to 12:30PM at the funeral Home prior to the service.The burial will be held in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Converting HeartsMinistries, PO Box 524, Creedmoor, NC 27522 or 919-628-0315. CHM is a biblical based, non-profit, addictions recovery program.
